Huet Shouldn’t Play in Next Week’s All-Star Game

The latest edition of the Montreal Canadiens hasn’t been those of the first half of the season. The Montreal Canadiens have lost six of their eight last games and have gone 4-8 after the Christmas break. Now, we all know Cristobal Huet has the ability to be a great goalie. His performance in the first half of the season helped us climb in the standings and be the team that we should be. Let’s be honest, Cristobal Huet’s performance thus far in the season is well deserving of an All-Star nomination. He has a GAA of 2.67 and a save percentage of .921, which is good enough for 15th and 4th in the league respectively.
However, you have to wonder if he’s feeling the effects of mid season fatigue. Huet has started 33 of the 47 games that the Habs have played. If he stays healthy, at this rate he will finish the season playing 57 games. That’s 16 games more than his career high 41 in the 2003-2004 season with the Los Angeles Kings. With that being said, we have to wonder if Huet will be able to withstand that many games played and carry this team into the playoffs.
This brings me to my point that Cristobal Huet shouldn’t play in the All-Star game, not because he’s not good enough, but because it will benefit the team and work towards the greater good of the Montreal Canadiens. It is obvious that the Canadiens are struggling and are in need of serious rest. Over the All-Star break, Montreal players who are not playing in the All-Star game will get a week vacation to refuel themselves for the playoff drive. If Huet were smart he would take part in that vacation rather than strutting his “stuff” at the All-Star game in Dallas.

I agree the Habs need some rest… but we we the fans need some REP!
What is it… just Sourray and Huet in the AS Game?
Let’s get a little bit of that red, blue and some of that HU-ITE at the allstar game just so our fans have something to look at!
Keep it up Naimer… love the blogs!

they will rest during the all stars game - even if Huet/Souray wont rest as they participate in the special event i am sure they will both come back to play oh so better then they were playing since christmas.. souray has been playing like he had ‘allstar-allstar-allstar’ banging in his head since he know he’s been choosen.. i dont know how to say it in english but what i mean is that ‘il se prend pour meilleur qu’il ne l’est vraiment’! for the huet case i think he simply dont give a damn about the allstars game and hes anxious to get over it and get back in his routine till the end of the season and get prepared for the real deal: the series.
