So, the Habs are finally winning and broke the losing streak at seven games. The credit for the win definitely goes to Halak. Jaroslav Halak, only the third goalie from Slovakia to start in the NHL, showed that deserved the start and played remarkably well. Can the Habs turn the season around without the player that lead them their? Huet had been the story of the Canadiens season leading the team to 4th spot in the east. But now, since Huet is out for an undisclosed amount of time, Halak will get his opportunity to show if it was skill or beginners luck (well it could have just been the Jackets). With injuries and aliments to several key players (Huet, Kovalev, and Rivet), the Habs have been forced to farm for healthy bodies. Lapierre, Milroy, and Halak have been tossed into the lime light during the darkest point of the Canadiens season. A few weeks ago, I was making fun of the Leafs for all their AHLers in the line up, but now the Habs are starting to look like the Hamilton Canadiens. No disrespect to the youth of the team but come playoff time a four game losing streak will spell the end of the Habs season. With the deadline rapidly approaching, it’s time to make a deal for a grizzled veteran. Another losing streak could end the Habs playoff hopes and another experienced player in fold could really add the teams depleted line up. Gross is gone to Florida for the week so no shows just blogs, Hope you can cope.
