In an attempt to add depth to the blue line, Bob Gainey has turned to an unlikely source in Patrice Brisebois … The same Patrice Brisebois won the Stanley Cup with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993 … The same Patrice Brisebois who drives his Ferrari at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve every year at the Grand Prix festivities. And, yes, the same Patrice Brisebois who was dubbed by the Montreal faithful “Breeze-by” for his pitiful defensive play. All signs point to Habs fans disliking the idea of Brisebois’ second stint with the bleu-blanc-et rouge. But this acquisition could be good for the Canadiens, especially if it’s for a measly $700,000 one year contract. He brings experience and … well that’s about it. I could see him playing a solid 42 games and if he gets injured then stick him behind the bench with his buddies Guy Carbonneau and Kirk Muller. The question is … will it be 1993 all over again?
