( 1 ) Use the sticks shaft to generate power
( 2 ) Put pressure on the shaft and blade
( 3 ) Start with the puck behind you
( 4 ) Move body, shaft and blade forward (Generate more speed by turning your body)
( 5 ) Make sure to use the right stick (stiffness is important)
FYI: Kovalev suggests that most young players “try to generate power form their upper body and hands”, which makes there shots less accurate… kind of like shooting with a “machine gun”… so don’t just use your upper body and hands.
Also, you can check out Part I of the series, linked here, in which Kovalev shows off his puck handling skills…
Part three coming soon… stay tuned!
