I overheard a rumor today, from someone who knows “people” in the media. Supposedly , his source was suggested that a Montreal forward and defenseman may be headed to an unspecified Western Conference team. Some say that this deal might go down sooner rather than later. Yes, this is an Eklund rumor, who isn’t very credible to say the least and as a matter of fact I really dislike his methods. But I wouldn’t be posting this unless it had credible sources and made sense. The Habs are trying to unload Ryder, whose contract expires July 1st of next year. I also heard Bullion’s name come up. As I said, this is just speculation and not fact, however, it would make sense that the Canadiens would be trying to trade these players.
Another name I heard come up in trade talks is Jaroslav Halak. Obviously, Halak is upset about his demotion to Hamilton and has not been putting up a great effort of late. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that he is disgruntled over it and wants to go somewhere where he can play, perhaps Columbus or Nashville.
In former Habs news, Jose Theodore may be on his way to Pittsburgh to help struggling goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. The price: A stick and a bag of pucks.
