For whatever this may be worth… Eklund’s got another one.
Now, I like Michael Ryder. But knowing the kind of player Craig MacTavish looks for I’m not so sure he’d be willing to lose out on some of the things that Horcoff does… like being the kind of grinder and plugger that he is. This isn’t a bad thing, Horcoff’s a guy that really fights for a puck in corners when it needs to be done.
Ryder seems to be more of a shooter. This is always a good thing too… but losing a grinder… makes me think Craig MacTavish would be upset.

The Habs need goal scorers, esp of the right handed variety. Ryder is the only Hab that currently fits that description, even if he is maddeningly streaky. Why trade him for the near opposite?

Hey Kaz,
This rumor is surely not going to happen, but dumping Ryder is inevitable. Considering that his contract expires this year and he’s eligible to become a UFA I’m almost positive that he’ll be traded by the deadline. The Habs will be making some moves this season.

Horcoff for Ryder. Never happen. Ryder would not be in the position he is in, if his determination was consistant. He would get booed out of Edmonton, quick. Habs were smart to sign a 1 year deal with him. He is on his way to the minors. Horcoff will be around for another 10-12 years.
