Well, the Ducks aren’t fairing well so far in the season. Cup hangover? Is it Brian Burkes fault though? Lost his 2 leading goal scorers of last year, and didn’t replace either of them.
His 2 major off-season acquisitions were both older, injury prone players (both have been hurt early in this season) in Bertuzzi and Schneider. Both Getzlaf and Perry are going to be RFA’s next year, and are both going to be earning a very large raise, and both, Getzlaf especially, are risks to large offer sheets. Is he going to have the room to sign these 2 guys, who are the future of his offense?
Something to keep in mind. The Ducks have 1 more win than the lowly Edmonton Oilers, and have played 1 extra games. Are the Ducks a victom of circumstances? Neids and Selanne refusing to give a clear answer on whether they are going to retire or not? I know they’ve been ravaged by injuries but still Bertuzzi and Schneider are not the guys you should blow your FA wad on
Discuss Burkes growing problems.
